FWIW, I’m a big Petty fan. I hope he wasn’t in much pain when he died.
And yet it seems so hard to put convicted criminals (who've been through the appeals process) to death.
Manufacturers of the drugs used to execute prisoners are prohibiting sales to states with the death penalty (apparently they are still OK for euthanasia. just put some fentanyl in their last meal and it could be over.

Trump needs to replace this tweet so that Americans know he’s talking about drug deaths.
Too much fentanyl getting shipped overseas from China for some fencing at the Mexican border to make a real difference on this. But anything that gets Trump to just declare his SoE and get it built is okay by me.
Are they proud that he preformed so injured with pain masked by the drugs?
Common sense would say take the time off to heal injury instead of making it worse. I would guess Petty had ability to take time off, wasn’t living pay check to pay check? And fans would be understanding so, did love of money win out? or just lies of pain meds make him think he was able to work thru worsening hip issue?
I think it refers to drugs ... Americans killed due to illegal narcotics.

I knew at least one guy who died of OD. A good friends adult son, who I’d never met recently died. Another friends son survived one a few months ago
The draw of the high is insidious. My county keeps a running annual total on signboards at all police stations.
Eleven days into the year: 5 OD’s, 3 fatalities. Last year the totals were down from 2017, but still almost 200 fatalities.
Restricting supply by a physical barrier and increased tech at the entry points will only help raise the cost and lower the toll.
Victimless crime-yea right. Tell that to my friends youngest son who still cries at the drop of a hat because he misses his brother.
Maybe it was Petty’s ego of marking his “40th anniversary” tour. 41st doesn’t have the same ring to it.
Maybe not stated as clearly as we would like but the gist is that the cause of those American deaths is from illegals/drugs coming over the border.

Those deaths are the result of CHOICES. No sympathy from these quarters. But he's right in that if it's not available they can't make the (stupid) choice to use it.
