If Schumer and Pelosi were smart their answer to the President’s question would have been, “We don’t know. That’s what negotiations are for.” By being completely inflexible they may well be overplaying their hand.
They are trying to govern as though Dems control the Senate and White House as well. They don’t - and Republicans can’t help because they only control the Senate, while an “American Nationalist” sits in the White House.
