My first thought on seeing the two of them was, "Which one is the ventriloquist?". They looked very awkward crowding behind such a small lectern.

I think it would have been more sensible if each had stood aside as the other stood directly behind the lectern. Perhaps they wanted to avoid the appearance of having any ideas not shared by the other.

Or two lecterns? At least step off to the side while the other one speaks like normal people would.
