ILLEGALS from All Over the World Travel Through the Darien Gap to Enter the U.S.:
Ahmed Hassan staggered through dense Panamanian jungle, crazy with thirst, his rubber sandals sliding in the mud, fearing he would die thousands of miles from his homeland in Somalia.
I told my family I would go to the U.S., that was the plan, said the 26-year-old truck driver, who said he fled late last year when al-Shabaab militants took his village.
He flew to Brazil and made a cross-continental bus trip to Colombia.
In March came his biggest test: crossing the Darien Gap that connects South America with Panama and Mr. Hassans ultimate goal, the U.S.
There was no water.
There were snakes, he said in a small holding center in Metetí, north of the jungle, gashes and bites covering his legs under his traditional sarong.
I thought I might die in that jungle.
Migrants go to extremes for new beginnings.
Honduran families put children on northbound trains.
Hundreds of Africans recently drowned braving the Mediterranean in an overcrowded boat.
People cross the deadly Sonoran Desert to get from Mexico to Arizona.
The untamed Darien Gap has become a new route for travelers from as near as Cuba and as far as Nepal.
The surge reflects the difficulty of entering the U.S. by traditional paths like arriving on a visa and overstaying, said Marc Rosenblum, a deputy director at the Migration Policy Institute, a Washington think tank.
These people are willing to take this risky and complicated route, he said, and they are lining up to take it.
U.S. justice and immigration officials say they are working to combat human smuggling on such routes.
We will continue using all of our investigative authorities to identify and dismantle these transnational criminal organizations, said Barbara Gonzalez, Senior Adviser to Latin America at the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency.
The circuitous Panama route has become more attractive, say migration experts, thanks to the easing of visa and asylum requirements in some South American countries and an unwillingness by some governments on the route to carry out mass deportations. ...

They looked angry, peeved ...
Schumer looked like an sleazy undertaker waiting to slam the coffin shut or to turn up the flames on the cremation. Pelosi looked like a deer in the headlights. Someone should have advised them that only a single person should give the rebuttal ... and neither of them should have been the one to deliver it.

I noticed another “Chuck” who didn’t do so well either.
Chuck Todd, on NBC, seemed to be struggling and reaching to find a way to detract from Trump’s speech and to be dismissive about the points Trump made. Chuck’s facial language showed him reaching to the sky to find something to say that would detract from Trump’s points. For an experienced TV host, he was pathetic. And so was Lester Holt, btw.

C. & N. were expecting our President to do what they would do, because it’s only natural for them to project themselves onto others. They would have declared the emergency they expected from Pres. Trump, therefore knew without a doubt that is what he was going to announce. That is what they were prepared to rebut.
OOPS!
Didn’t happen. They were wrong, and they weren’t prepared.

We learned one truth about Schlummer. The glasses are fake.

Both are clearly blathering Marionettes being dangled by their establishment cartel over lords. Like an infestation of roaches and vermin, there are too many of their kind in DC.

EVERYONE can see through Pelosi and Schumer trying to make a case against a border barrier.
They failed.
None of their arguments for keeping the government closed make any sense.
We are supposed to not have a border barrier because of optics? Really? The Statue of Liberty versus a divisive wall?
They keep claiming a barrier would be ineffective, but the fear in their eyes reveals that they know it will be very effective. This terrifies them.
America wants a wall. Build the wall.

My first thought on seeing the two of them was, "Which one is the ventriloquist?". They looked very awkward crowding behind such a small lectern.
I think it would have been more sensible if each had stood aside as the other stood directly behind the lectern. Perhaps they wanted to avoid the appearance of having any ideas not shared by the other.
