What did any of this matter with Obama’s undeclared wars and other foreign sorties?

I’m drawing a blank...not sure what undeclared wars and sorties to which you refer.

“The only emergency we have on the border right now is people seeking asylum. And people seeking asylum are not trying to sneak in. “

right so why are many not going to port of entry but being found crossing in plenty of other spots? also some are trying to evade border patrol before apprehension.

Throughout our history the President has declared a national emergency to build x.

A wall, dam, airport, locks, levies etc.

Imho, the President (nice to capitalize that again), should declare a national emergency and build an island twelve miles off the coast of Shanghai.

"Trump has insisted since the 2016 campaign that a physical barrier along the U.S. border with Mexico is the solution to what he [and the 61,943,670 voters who elected him POTUS] sees as a crisis."

There! Fixed it.

Mr. Horsley is seemingly trying to nullify the votes of the patriots who elected PDJT.

Goitein also cautioned that a resort to emergency powers in the current situation — in the midst of a standoff with lawmakers that has produced a partial government shutdown — could be considered an abuse of the president's power.

Isn't the reciprocal argument to that a claim that congress isn't properly exercising it's power to prevent a foreign invasion of the US?

Based on recent polls the 62 million number is probably quite low.

More than 70,000 died of drug overdoses last year, not an emergency if non of them were your family member.

Human trafficing, homocides of Americans, MS 13 gangs, no problem if all you want is political power and cheap labor.

No problem for rich Dems who have walls and private and public protective details.

‘Isn’t the reciprocal argument to that a claim that congress isn’t properly exercising it’s power to prevent a foreign invasion of the US?”

Congress’ failure to address the problems in the immigration laws, along with Obama’s getting away with his unlawful executive orders, are really the root of the entire problem.

Congress’ failure to do their jobs has really become a national embarrassment, and I honestly don’t see it changing. The useless bastards keep getting re-elected.

I, for one, really hope our President doesn’t take this route.

Simply dig and no compromise, keep the shutdown going and let the chips fall where the will.

"I think the president would be wide open to a court challenge saying, 'Where's the emergency?' " Rep. Adam Smith, D-Wash., chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, told ABC.

I can't imagine the SC taking that case. The remedy is in Congress's hands -- impeachment and removal from office. The House would certainly impeach him. I don't see the Senate removing him from office over this but who knows? There are lots of RINOs.

Give a bit more time and advances in high tech there can be in the future electronic force field barriers.

Yeah, that’s definitely an example. One I didn’t think of when I was pondering the question.
