President Trump wants to address the nation about the government shutdown on Tuesday night, and later in the week plans to travel to the southern border as part of his effort to persuade Americans of the need for a border wall — the sticking point in negotiations with Democrats who are eager to reopen shuttered agencies.
The White House did not immediately respond to questions about a request to television networks to carve out time for an Oval Office address. A person familiar with the request said the White House had asked to interrupt prime time programming on Tuesday.

I can envision a video of Trump giving a speech at the border that shows Mexicans crossing the border behind him. It would be priceless.
Perhaps a bit analogous to the Vacation movie scene where they are parked in Detroit and you see the guys taking off the hubcabs.

I think President Trump should tie the wall funding to foreign aid. He could make this offer:
“I will sign a bill funding the US government today, without wall funding, but also without the 54 billion dollar aid package requested by the Democrats. We should spend that money on our security first, and then help other nations that need and deserve our assistance. It can be done in one day. After our government is reopened we can then negotiate a separate bill that addresses foreign aid and the wall.”
I think he’ll talk about declaring a National Emergency unless Congress moves quickly to fund the barrier.
Have the FCC pull their license to operate. Shut the networks down.
It will be the first time in history the nets refuse to run a Presidential Address.
The networks have focused totally on "Trump's" Wall (It's America's wall) and the poor poor souls struggling already even though they are paid until the 15th. So now they can't possibly say that a Trump National address is not real news.
Maybe he signs the EO National Emergency at the border, portion of wall as backdrop.
