I agree that the only thing “great” about Erdogan is his evilness. He is to be hated.
But I think our President is able to deal with him and he will come away with, not a double, but a homerun..
Exactly right. No better allies than the Kurds. Just about the only ones worth protecting.
Being the policeman of the world sucks but its where we find ourselves. How to transition from our globalist interventionism to an American first position? This is much more complex then just bring the troops home when we live in a world full of enemies - anybody remember 9-11 anyone ...
The mideast sucks - U.S being there sucks - U.S not being there with shoestring contingent is going to suck more. There is no good solution other than to keep killing ISIS - this pullout will make that more difficult. This seems like an unforced error, repeating historical mistakes and is going to comeback to bite the president in the ass.
I agree. I don’t sell Trump short.
Like most men he has faults. He is however incredibly smart. And there are private things about him to that speak well of him.
Bolton is embarrassing himself on this trip with this kowtowing.
*** This opens up the area to give Russia,Iran,Turkey,Syria a free hand - doesn’t it seem obvious bad things will result from that ***
Excuse me, Syria is a Sovereign Nation. We have no business there. Israel has nukes. Let them fight their own battles, and quit playing victim.
Our regime change worked so well in Libya.
BTW, these little propaganda ploys we are constantly bombarded with are losing their power over the masses.
Do you believe isis is destroyed? Do you believe they won’t Target the US? Or is isis not a threat to us in your opinion. Syria was a sovereign nation I’m not sure what it is now. I don’t care so much about regime change as you are correct in pointing out we suck at that. ISIS and Iran however seem to be legitimate enemies of this nation. Leaving when we have them on the ropes when it is taking not that many troops seems short sighted. Just not seeing the upside of letting ISIS off the hook and letting the Kurds twist in the wind. Also Iran seems to be having lots of internal problems that seem to be getting worse the better we do there. A revolution in Iran seems to be likely as their economy collapses. We leave it seems to take the pressure off of them. Who gains from us pulling out. It looks like our enemies do.
I posted a long reply to you which would not post. It kept disappearing. Strange.
We don’t have ISIS or Iran on the ropes. Syria, Russia, and Hezbollah are largely responsible for the decimation of ISIS in Syria.
The Kurds? They are part of the US plan to Balkanize Syria. There is a reason they have “no friends but the mountans.”.They are no friends to Yezidis or Christans. Look at Qamishli.
Iran.If Trump’s closest advisors would quit stuffing their pockets with MEK money, and quit disputing the IAEA verifications and reports, imposing sanctions to try to bring yet more regime change, it would be okay by me.
Is Iran the world’s largest sponsor of terrorism? Sorry, I think that KSA, Qatar, FUKUS are closer to that title when I look at the destruction we’ve brought to Iraq, Libya, Syria, etc.
agree with you.
Trump made too many compromises with neoCon swamp in 2018. he is supposed to focus on fulfilling what he promised to his real supporters.
how could those hard left socialist Kurds be stauch allies of America? Kurd myth is nothing more than a propaganda produced by Obama/EU globalist power.

spot on.
I'm sure the president is aware of all the points I made in one form or another and has a much better understanding of the problem (he'd damn well better)
I don't have a good solution myself other than keep killing ISIS fighters. My pearl clutching revolves around the thought that pulling out and thinking ISIS isn't going regain its strength is incorrect. Counting on Russia, Syria and Hezbollah to finish the job doesn't seem plausible.
I'm against globalism but not against us being a global power but it does seem some of these problems (like this one) are more complex then those suggesting its just a big globalist deep state plot at this point - and if we just pulled out things would be fine for America or the West. The Mideast is just one big perpetual mess and we've become part of it. What a disaster.
I sure hope I'm wrong - nothing would make me happier for us to get the hell out of that area and have them leave us alone.
Anyhow sockmonkey thank you for a civil argument and be well
