The last time I was in California most of the houses had solar panels, so I’m not even sure anyone would notice if they shut down.

Yeah, them solar panels keep the lights on at night.

The solar panels here are required to be tied into the grid so that any unused power generated goes back into the grid. When the power is down you lose power...solar or not.
