Actually, they’ve done us all a favor.
The threat of impeachment can tie your hands, and arguably has tied Trump’s hands to some extent until now.
But the certainty of it is liberating. If you do xyz we will impeach. If you don’t do xyx we will impeach. If you have orange juice with your breakfast we will impeach and if you don’t we’ll still impeach.
That frees Trump to completely ignore them, ignore their subpoenas, ignore any law they pass (and let it die untouched by the senate), ignore their demands for information and testimony, tax records, whatever. Because, what are they going to do, impeach him?
As long as at least two thirds of senate Republicans still back him, he is impervious. He can proceed to mock Pelosi without mercy for the next two years at least.

Who here trusts the GOPe to stand by Trump? I don’t. I think enough will bail on him that his presidency is peril.
