D.C. is full of federal property. Its a district to allow lawmakers freedom from state laws. Imagine if D.C. became California east! Every senator would have to put up with California law instead of federal laws on federal property. imagine the state allowing its citizens to practice harassing lawmakers mercilessly 24/7 while inside state boundaries. D.C. can never be a state because it would quickly become a place lawmakers would have no control of. not to mention there isn’t enough tax paying base to protect congress. - D.C. state police?
