Parents of children gunned down in the Parkland school shooting in Florida last year have never understood two actions taken by Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel: his refusal to fire a campus-based deputy who failed to enter the school during the rampage that took 17 lives, and his continued defense of controversial Obama-era school policies that allowed the accused shooter, Nikolas Cruz, to avoid arrest and a police record and thereby purchase the murder weapon. Some now think they have found the answer in a single incident that occurred in 2014. A police report shows thats when Israel's then-17-year-old son, Brett, was accused of participating in a sexual assault of a 14-year-old boy at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. The case was investigated by Scot Peterson -- the armed deputy who took cover while children and staff were shot last February. Using the Obama-era guidelines, Petersons recommendation helped his bosss son receive just a three-day suspension.

People familiar with the case say Peterson could have referred Israel for felony charges, but reduced the crime to simple battery, making him eligible for a leniency program requiring no arrest. The school districts disciplinary matrix requires no law enforcement action required regarding the incident, the deputy wrote.
A child was sexually assaulted and Peterson reduced the charges to fit a matrix and report it as information. This allowed the deputy to put it away and not do anything, said Arreaza,"
Disgusting and disgraceful. DeSantis needs to suspend Israel and the senate needs to terminate him.
Looks like we could do a multi part series of A&E’s “Investigative Reports” show on what an absolutely corrupt and rotten sh$thole Broward is, with ones like Israel and Runcie and the rest of the sorry bunch running things there.
WELL WELL WELL, Very interesting and sick stuff.
I believe a sheriff is elected, not appointed. He is the Law in his county, is what I’ve heard. Not suspendable, eh?
If the sheriff is indicted, he would be suspended pending the outcome of his criminal proceedings.
Want to know why cops get away with so much of this kind of behavior? Because dirty cops have so much shit on half the department, including the Sheriff and Prosecutor, they would take all the others down with them. I call it a “mutual extortion society”.
In Florida the governor can suspend constitutional officers for cause, even though elected.
Indictment is not required for the governor to suspend an elected municipal official for cause. To the point, Israel would never be indicted in deep blue Broward County, nor would Brenda Snipes.
I second that, BIG TIME!!!!!
SO NOW WE KNOW WHO KILLED ALL THOSE CHILDREN.
The Florida governor cann suspend any sheriff as thet all come under the jurisdiction of the FDLE.
Why anyone would ever believe anything any Police Officer says is beyond me, Every cop I have ever known would gladly send their own mother to prison to protect their Illegal and Criminal Actions and their partners.
Thanks for your advice, my FRiends!
