Insanity is doing the same things over and over and expecting a different outcome. The pentagon has been horrible at the war in Afghanistan. They started that war on a promising and creative foot with the SF on horseback. We never bothered to locat and promote a kcal tribal leader to take the place of the much loved Masood. Instead we tried to launch a conventional war in a country that conventional was bound to bog down and lose.
Let’s be reasonable, I think we’ve done a lot in Afghanistan, but for how many decades should we fight a war in Afghanistan, it’s not central to our security. Same goes for being in some Syrian provinces, not even fighting for a friendly government there.
