Jimmy Carter urges cooperation between US and China (Wow, thanks Jimmy)

Former President Carter on Monday urged the U.S. and Chinese governments to find areas of common concern and improve relations heading into the new year.

Carter, who signed accords in 1979 normalizing relations with China, cautioned that the ongoing trade dispute between the two countries or hostilities over elections should not get in the way of productive collaboration on other areas of global concern.

We will definitely have to disagree over that one. It kicked China into an entirely different historical arc. You can criticize the present one all you like but it's better than where they, or we, were in 1970, and in my opinion contributed in no small part to the subsequent fall of the Soviet Union.
