I think GWP is essential reading. Does it run with poorly sourced stories that don't hold up? Yes, but only occasionally, not often. No more often than, say, the Washington Post or the New York Times. And GWP often breaks stories that transition into the mainstream media. It is a better place for breaking news of interest to conservatives than Drudge is these days.
I consider Breitbart, Free Republic, and Gateway Pundit my three essential conservative news sites. (And I also really like some of the reporting--especially on legal matters of interest to me--on Legal Insurrection.)
