Historically and traditionally, the Assads (father and son), have been peacefully neutral with the Kurds and their self governance ambitions under Syrian Law. Also the Assads have been significantly protective of all Syrian Christians. The group they have gone after is the Muslim Brotherhood, the longtime origin of Islamic Terrorism, and the American Left's favorite Muzzies.
