American diplomats attached to the United Nations headquarters in New York have failed in their attempt to get other countries such as Brazil, India, and Turkey to step up their funding of UN “peacekeeping” forces, the so-called blue helmets. As of now, the paramilitary organization faces a $220 million budget shortfall for the upcoming year.
UN “peacekeepers” are currently deployed in 14 trouble spots, mainly in Africa and the Middle East.
“Unfortunately, in a deeply dissatisfying and disappointing turn of events, every country decided that reform was good and right for the UN, but not for how it is financed,” said Ambassador Cherith Norman Chalet, the US representative for UN reform on Saturday.

Not a single thing you posted (ranted?) about changes what I said about the French (I am part French, so get over it already!). I don’t disagree with Brits also being arrogant, but that doesn’t change the facts, either. Maybe the French military does have their act together, I don’t know, I didn’t witness them in the sandbox, but their politician’s attitude in general is what I said it was. You sound like a ‘Francophile’ so I doubt your openmindedness. I notice when you took that stroll down history lane you didn’t mention their actions in WWII, but I guess that didn’t fit your saintly image of them. If we didn’t go to war against the germans, they’d STILL be speaking german in France.
Nevertheless, I maintain what I said: let them have the new UN, pony up the cash, and tell themsleves that they still matter. (and you can contune to love them if you wish - I don’t give a rip)

Either that or you are a francophile, and overly enamored with their actual importance in the grand scheme, and who gets their nickers overly knotted up when anyone DARES to even hint that the frenchies might not be the greatest civilization since civilization was even thought of by knuckle-dragging proto apes.
