Americas oldest veteran, Richard Overton, who served in the Army during World War II and credited God, whiskey and cigars for his remarkable longevity, died Thursday in Texas at the age of 112, reports say.
He had been hospitalized for the last week with pneumonia, his family said.

I wonder if MADD didn’t want to “have a little talk” with Mr. Overton about what he credits for his longevity.
My granddad passed at 95. One of his rituals was a glass of brandy before bedtime. He also drank beer in moderation for enjoyment, not to get drunk. And he was deeply religious.
My great granddad passed at age 95 in the 1970s. Drank his own homemade wine and had a daily cigar. Within 2 months Great grandama passed away too. They were as tight as any couple could be right up to the end of their days.
