Back in my day, a lid was maybe 22 grams, so that would be $220 today. I paid ten dollars...

Back in the day that was 15.00 in Windsor Ont. but then Columbia Gold came along and prices jumped to 50.00 a quarter over night back in the late 70’s.

In looking up how many grams were in a lid, I learned that a lid was named for the amount of grass you could scoop up with the lid of a Hellman’s Mayonnaise jar. This, naturally enough, originated in San Francisco.
