German army floats plan to recruit foreigners

Struggling to fill its ranks, Germany’s military is drawing up plans to recruit nationals from other European countries as part of a drive to beef up the armed forces.

Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen wants to recruit Poles, Italians and Romanians, magazine Der Spiegel said, citing a ministry document.

The German military, or Bundeswehr, has stepped up its recruitment efforts as part of a broader reset following Russia’s annexation of Crimea from Ukraine in 2014. Last year, Germany said it would increase the size of its armed forces to 198,000 active soldiers by 2024 from 179,000.

Pressure on Berlin mounted again in July when U.S. President Donald Trump told a NATO summit that Washington could withdraw support for the alliance if Europe did not boost military spending.

According to the classified ministry document, some 255,000 Poles, 185,000 Italians and 155,000 Romanians, aged between 18 and 40, live in Germany — about half all foreign EU nationals. If 10 percent of them could be interested in the Bundeswehr, that could generate 50,000 new applicants, it said. …

The article says nothing about Mahometans, interestingly enough.

It does say this:
The Defense Ministry wants to limit the group of potential recruits to those who have already lived in Germany for several years and speak fluent German, Der Spiegel said.

Such limits would aim to minimize concern among other European Union countries about Germany luring their potential soldiers by offering better pay. …
However, the parts of the armies of the Netherlands, Slovenia and the Czech Republic who have been integrated into the Bundeswehr already most likely do not have a plethora of troops who speak fluent German.

Seriously, I’m surprised.

I don’t see any danger with Poles, Italians and Romanians in the Bundeswehr.

When I saw the headline, I was afraid it was referring to Turks, Syrians, and other assorted Muslims.

The whole notion of a united Europe is based in anti-Americanism. That even goes back to Kaiser Wilhelm II, who desired to have “a United States of Europe against America”.

“Because it worked out so well when the Romans did it?”

Who do you think Germanic people learned it from? LOL!

The United States allows Green Card holders to enlist in the military.

Honorably serving is also a path to citizenship.

Citizens of any member E.U. country can freely migrate among countries in exactly the same way that U.S. residents can move among states.

So in that sense, Germany is allowing people from different "states" to join their Army.

Maybe.

But I don’t have a problem with German Nationalism.

Right now, they are led by new-worlder internationalist elitists.

A nationalist Germany doesn’t have to be an adversary of the United States.

Russia, yes, and perhaps France (but I believe their days have come and gone).

I too fear a united Europe, and I hope the traditional nation-states of Europe can continue their separate heritages and ways.

However, my biggest fear is a united Europe under the Crescent. Eurabia. That will be Antichrist, imho.

Because it worked so well for Hitler.

It actually did, in a way. Though it ultimately worked out better for the islamist hordes he embraced.

IIRC Germany has “recruited” foreigners in the past.

I think the Poles and Italians are busy defending their own borders.
The world is getting crazier each day.

The story might be deliberately misleading, to make the public think it won’t be a bunch of jihadis given military training and access to their armories - when that is just what they will do. The agenda is to get this passed. After all, once the policy is in place to hire foreigners, they would be “racist” not to hire muslims. There would be no way to keep them out, or the first lawsuit/protest would push it over with a feather.

Germans have one of the lowest percentages of men who are willing to fight for their country, even in Europe.

German “nationalism” is typically and historically a misnomer for imperialism. The phrase “Heiliges Römisches Reich Deutscher Nation” translates as “Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation”. If there were any other context to put German nationalism in, I’d like it to be spelled out and the former definition expunged; love of one’s country must never be taken advantage of by globalist elites, who were left in positions of power in Germany after WWII thanks to leftists in the USA such as the American Committee on United Europe and others.

The presence of Mahometans in Europe is deliberate, and intended to precipitate a crisis to force unification. No Mahometans are being asserted in any high positions of government, take note (the UK is a different and very sad story, though).

What could possibly go wrong when you have those who hate you serving in your military?

Ask the victims of Major Nidal Malik Hasan.

Ask the victims of Sergeant Hasan Karim Akbar.

Oh wait - You can’t ask them because they’re dead
Murdered by muslims wearing the US Army uniform.
