They are everywhere in Az too, in fact we have a strange hybrid cross between the Fire Ant and the Black Ant we call a Purple Ant because in the sun the are indeed purple. and these are even worse.

Well, if they are "everywhere", not possibly in the same numbers. In Georgia, you can see 18" high mounds all over the place. I haven't seen one in Arizona in either Phoenix or Mesa, where I have spent most of my time. I will warn my wife abouth the purple ones, though. I am not sure why a cross between an aggressive, poisonous fire ant and a common black ant would be worse than the undiluted version, though.

Lived in AZ 20+ years & been to most parts of the state, and I’ve yet to see a fire ant (came here from Houston, so I know what they look like and way too much about how they sting).
