Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) mocked President Donald Trump’s changing version of his border wall, calling his latest iteration a “beaded curtain” in an interview with USA Today.
Trump insisted throughout his campaign and during much of the last nearly two years as president that the wall would be concrete. Now he’s talking about a “slat fence” made of steel or a “steel slat barrier” which he proclaimed will be “artistically designed” and “beautiful.”
It’s “a wall or a slat fence, or whatever you want to call it,” he said later in a video the night the partial government shutdown began after he refused to sign any temporary spending bill unless it included billions for his wall.

Tell Trump to put up a picture of Nancy with her beads.
That will surely scare off most illegal border crossers.
If that’s all it is, she shouldn’t be wasting so much effort trying to oppose it tooth and nail.
That should be part of any response President Trump or Sarah Sanders or Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity, et al, come up with.
She can do nothing but bitch about Trump. What are her ideas on curbing illegal migration? Oh wait...she doesn’t want to.

My understanding is that he has opted for a design that was already approved some years back. Maybe someone can confirm that...

The border guards told Trump they prefer a slatted wall because they want to be able to see what’s going on on the other side. They do not want a solid concrete wall. I would like to see the addition of solar panels attached to the structure and call it an alternative energy generator.
This metal slat design... I’m not sure of.
Couldn’t you get a car jack/lift and jam it between slats, then use it to bend slats open (or break them) and create a rat-hole to stream through?
She brings up a valid point. Trump should use the funds that he saved by pulling troops out of Syria and Afghanistan, and build a ‘concrete’ magnificent wall..
Great idea! Build the fence first (it will stop a good percentage), then afterward, concrete wall with pill-boxes a hundred yards behind it where needed. Terrain features alone will provide much of the restraint to crossings, unless you are a mountaineer or desert fox. But get the job done.
Run over a Pelosi or Schumer with an Abrams tank if you need to. It's a wonder that someone doesn't put a contract out on them.

These “slats” are 1” thick square steel “cylinders” filled with concrete and go into the ground 10’ if I’m not mistaken. I doubt the “jaws of life” could move these. Plus the “slats” are maybe 5 inches apart, so if you can move them, they can’t go far.
Also, this design has been tested by the military extensively. This design is very very difficult to breach. I can’t remember of the top of my head, but I recall that a 5 ton truck going 50 mph could not move this design. Very strong.
I, too, had a grand design in my head for the wall. Two way traffic or a monorail on top, with phalanx turrets every 500 yards. That sort of grandiose design is not merited to do the job.
