Ex-NATO commander: Allies wondering if Trump was blackmailed to pull troops out of Syria
Washington Examiner ^ | December 24, 2018 | Daniel Chaitin

A former commander of NATO said allies of the U.S. are asking whether President Trump was blackmailed by Turkey to pull U.S. military forces out of Syria.

In a CNN segment Monday, Wesley Clark, a retired Army general and former Democratic presidential candidate, said there was no apparent strategic logic for the move that critics view as an abdication to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

"You have to ask why was the decision made?" Clarke said on Christmas Eve. "People around the world are asking this and some of our friends and allies in the Middle East are asking, did Erdogan blackmail the president? Was there a payoff or something? Why would a guy make a decision like this? Because all the recommendations were against it. And it looked like all the facts were against it, too."

"We're not quite finished with we're not taking a lot of casualties over there," he added. "The Kurds have been reliable allies. Why do this right now?"

From the article:

"With American forces departing, the U.S. will leave 10,000 Kurdish troops open to attack by Turkey. A senior U.S. official told Jennifer Griffin of Fox News that Trump's announcement Wednesday came after Erdogan told him in a phone call to pull out of Syria because Turkish forces were preparing to assault people tied to the Kurdistan Workers Party, a separatist group the U.S. calls a terrorist organization."

The illogical nonsense being spewed by the usual anonymous "senior US official" shows how desperate the left and the globalists have become. Why would the US military defend a group the US (rightly or wrongly) has identified as a terrorist organization? And would it make any sense at all for the US to engage is direct warfare with Turkey? How would it work out to attack another NATO member?

We have people like Gen. Mattis claiming that Trump isn't friendly enough to our NATO allies while we simultaneously have another "senior US official" saying that our troops are preventing a fellow NATO member from attacking the Kurds.

That's just illogical. If Mattis and his fellow travelers on the left and in the media think attacking, or even just ending up in a defensive shoot out another NATO member is a good idea they are crazy.

Seems to be a pattern of folks who supported the Iran deal weighing in on this...

President Donald Trump must not terminate the Iran nuclear agreement — otherwise Tehran will move quickly to get a nuclear weapon, retired Army Gen. Wesley Clark told Newsmax TV on Friday.

The time Weasley Clark got relieved of his NATO command, notified via phone call by Hugh Shelton, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. When a Washington reporter called him because he had gotten a tip about the story, "Clark immediately called Shelton back, suggesting that premature publicity would be humiliating to him personally. 'All you have to do is correct the leak and say it’s just rumor,' Clark pleaded. That was impossible, Shelton said. The Pentagon had already notified Congress about his replacement."

And like the whiner that he is, not satisfied in taking the order from his superior, "he dialed up Defense Secretary William Cohen, who was traveling in Japan. When Cohen finally accepted the call, he was brief: The decision had been made and 'you should know it’s been cleared by the White House.' ”

HA HA!!

as soon as people realize that we don’t work with countries to get things done because they are friends we work with them because we might have a common goal...

From "An Army of One Why Wes Clark's Coworkers Hated Him", National Review staff, February 2, 2004:

"Interviews with a wide variety of current and retired military officials reveal that Clark was disliked by only three groups: Those whom ranked above him in the chain of command whom he ignored, his peers at the same rank whom he lied to, and those serving beneath him whom he micromanaged. Other than that, everyone liked him."

Since Clark is saying our allies are worried about Trump's withdrawal from Syria, it does not mean the opposite is true. It means Clark is making it up and saying what he thinks people want to hear.

only with the help of FakeNewsMSM can everyone who didn’t vote for Donald Trump in 2016 pretend they know nothing of his campaign promises.

Jeez, Wes, everybody knows DJT was in Istanbul once, looking for Valerie Jarrett's father, hoping to pee in a bed where she was birthed. Everybody knows that .

Had to be covered up.
