San Francisco has this problem with its Millennium Tower.

It’s sunk several inches.

It’s built on fill land in the bay.

If there’s an earthquake, what happens if it collapses (and falls into other buildings, as well)?

But, California will still have its high speed rail!

Wise advice - the possible worst experience is being trapped in an elevator - and when it’s ‘out of service’ -having to walk up or down more than 2 floors. (carrying groceries & trash;)
