Residents of New Jersey were given a deadline to turn in their gun magazines or become felons overnight, and so far, no one is complying.

Citizens were given a December 11 deadline on their new ban on standard capacity magazines. The law effectively turned one million law abiding gun owners into criminals, literally over night if they failed to turn in the magazines.

According to Ammoland.com, who says they spoke with multiple police departments throughout the state, no one has turned in their magazines.
According to the report:
Two sources from within the State Police, who spoke to AmmoLand on condition of anonymity, told AmmoLand News that they both do not know of any magazines turned over to their agency and doubted that any were turned in. They also stated that the State Police also engaged the AG's office for guidance on how to respond to inquiries such as ours. They were unaware if the Attorney General has returned to their request for guidance. All the local police departments that AmmoLand contacted stated that they have not had any magazines turned into them.
AmmoLand has filed a Freedom of Information Act request with The New Jersey State Police to get an official count of the number of magazines turned in by New Jersey citizens. We will update the story if our FOIA request is fulfilled.
This act of disobedience is the only way that law-abiding citizens can effectively and peacefully fight back against the gun grabbers. And so far, it has been effective.

> Over one million gun owners have refused to obey ban
Make everyone a criminal and the government has a lot more control.
LMAO. Good luck trying to convict someone. If they are busted they should demand a jury trial. Never plea bargain on this issue.
A select few will be made examples of, causing many to capitulate. Half the country (or more!) will see little problem with that. :frown:
Exactly it is not the fact that they well enforce it in mass.
It is the fact they can when they want to.
Better yet, 1 million people ought to turn themselves in but NOT there magazines and enter a plea of NOT GUILTY. See how the system deals with a million people all with a “right to a speedy trial trial”
It may mean a few sacrificial lambs on both sides. I’d booby trap my front door.
NJ is running out of money to enforce anything; we are broke.
I looked and amazingly I misplaced all of mine as well, or someone broke into my house and stole them. Apparently there has been some mass thievery going on to steal all of the privately owned magazines. Who could be behind the dastardly theft ring? Perhaps the authorities could use their time to investigate this ‘ring of thieves’.
Does the new law actually state that they must be turned in? Or is it just a ban on the magazines? There are other ways to comply with the law other than turning them in...
Nuke ‘em
No one becomes a felon.
This is what they do. They make laws that declare innocent people guilty, and then they prosecute them.
At no point do they ever go after violent criminals. Ever. They resent the fact that honest, law-abiding non-violent people are able to defend themselves.
> If they are busted they should demand a jury trial. <
The 6th Amendment of the Constitution guarantees you the right to a jury trial. Always! No limitations. No restrictions.
Nope, said the Supreme Court in 1970. The 6th Amendment only applies for an offense carrying a penalty of 6 months or more imprisonment. That was a terrible, terrible ruling, and somehow it still stands to this day.
So all New Jersey has to do is charge those folks with some kind of crime carrying a penalty of 6 months imprisonment or less. Then you can ask for a jury all day long. You won’t get one. Your fate is completely in the hands of some establishment judge.
Kind of like Stalin’s Russia, eh?
Dear Leftists,
F*** you.
Happy Holidays ‘n stuff!
The fact that they have no way of knowing who has them or what they might have done with them, leads me to believe that the real intention is to be able use this against people in the future, to keep them in line as needed. It also means that if you still have an illegal mag, and end up using it in self-defense, youre going to prison while your assailant walks. Its really twisted. But hey, thats liberalism.
Leave it to the left to come up with something that is completely and utterly unconstitutional.
I wonder how this would go down:
Residents of New Jersey were given a deadline to turn in their right to free speech or become felons overnight
A similar thing occurred in California, circa 1999, involving a mandate to register so-called assault weapons. The deadline came and went, with only about 300k out of an estimated 8 million weapons were registered.
Make everyone a criminal and the government has a lot more control.
Apparently those traitorous hyenas havent heard about the point of diminishing return.
The improvisational gun-ban stuff seems to have even thinner support today. Abruptly defining half your population as criminals without massive participation and enthusiasm by the populace and the enforcers historically has been the last gesture of an old order that is fading away. Depending on the issue, this can be a bad thing or a good one.
We always have to stay vigilant and aggressive, but my take is that, barring a massive emergency that unites all the populace in a single direction--and it would have to be much more unifying than, say, 9-11--this is a sign that gun control is sliding away.
