Is that processing more or less humane than the usual culling method, which involves throwing the male chicks into a macerator that completely pulverizes them within milliseconds? I had no idea that maceration was a method used for culling chicks until I read this article. Of course I had to do a web search on the process, because it sounds frightfully inhumane. What I saw convinced me that the process is actually humane, although I must say, it's the sort of thing that can really prey upon the emotions of the gullible.

I had no idea that maceration was a method used for culling chicks until I read this article. I've actually read the American Veterinary Association manual on humane euthanization methods. Over lunch. Yes, I'm weird.
Some of the methods (like maceration) are extremely uncomfortable to contemplate, but the goal is to render death with as little distress and pain as possible.
