Maybe the Saudi forces are going in mainly to distribute weapons to the Kurds (with hopefully not too many of said weapons ending up in the hands of Iranian proxies).

I’m half serious.

Sufficiently armed, the Kurds likely can pretty well hold their own. SA might be less restrictive on what arms are supplied, compared to the US.

I think the Kurdish fighters are a tough bunch. But it seems something larger is afoot. I don’t know what it might be - Turkish forces seem to want to move in, and of course SA wants to keep Iran in check. If we can get SA to take the risk, then it’s good to get American troops out. But I suspect it’s part of something bigger, perhaps part of Trump’s ME “deal of the century” at play. Just guessing...
