Our taxes are very low. Because at the moment I am living off of savings I essentially have no taxable income and my wife's pension isn't taxed. They did recently pass a law saying that you had to declare all worldwide assets under penalty of huge fines starting at 150,000 Euros for non compliance. Supposedly this is aimed at people like Rinaldo who were hiding assets overseas to evade taxes but you can see the potential of a tax in the future. But that's speculation.
Have you visited Mallorca?
If you look at the picture I posted in this thread you will notice that we are very close to the water. When you see a view like that day in and day out other places that are very close to the water don't really grab your attention. We found that out when we took our first real Spanish vacation to Tenerife. Estepona and Gibraltar had the same problem: the spectacular views that draw so many visitors just aren't that spectacular to us. That is why we take so many vacations at places that aren't near the water. We are going to Gran Canaria next March but that is to relax at an all inclusive resort. The fact that it is on the coast didn't even factor into our decision. Mallorca doesn't really have anything to offer that we can't find by walking out the door.

Yup. Earliest ancestors I can find with family papers goes to the 1630-ish time frame Hudson River Valley/Green Mountain men. Revolution, civil, Ww1, ww2, Korea, Vietnam Nam era, Iraq. You get the picture.

A third of natural-born Americans are thinking about packing up and living elsewhere outside the United States Well...that would be the RATs.
Now, if we can just get them out and deport the wetbacks and other illegals...this wouldn't be a bad place to live.

They all say it, but they never leave.Even 99.9% of those rich enough to be able to do it and be able to take care of themselves don't leave.....

OBTW, do any of these exotic paradises allow expats to own guns?================
Yeah, but not like here (for now). You need permits. The biggest problem is that ammo is real expensive

You should go to Thailand. Not only are the gals frisky, but you can own all the guns you want.
