There are actually 3 classes of mexicans. There are the white europeans who are in government, own businesses, live in villas that have broken glass set utop the concrete walls, their kids go to nice schools.

Then you have the mestizos which are the vast majority and are the peasant class. These are the descendents of the white spaniards who got all rapey with the indians. They have basic rights but will generally never become rich.

Finally, you have the bottom of the barrel, the indians. They have little to no rights and are the ones you see begging in the streets.

Not so many of them are pure; most of them are Indian-European mix. A substantial number are pure Indian.
