Trump is leaving 50,000 Syrian civilians to die (Ballistic Hurling Chunks Alert)
WashPost ^ | 12-20-2018 | Josh Rogin

President Trump’s surprise decision to rapidly withdraw all U.S. troops from Syria is meeting with intense criticism by foreign policy experts, who denounce it as strategically stupid, reckless for national security and a blow to America’s global credibility. But inside Syria, the consequences are even more serious. For one example, 50,000 Syrian civilian refugees living under the direct protection of the U.S. military are suddenly fearing for their lives.

For three years, civilians living in the Rukban refugee camp in the southeastern Syrian desert have survived because of the protection of U.S. forces encamped 10 miles away on a base called Tanf. The refugee camp falls within Tanf’s 55-kilometer-radius security zone. The residents rely on the United States to protect them from the Syrian regime and Iranian forces and to ensure vital flows of humanitarian aid.

They are near starvation, effectively under siege and living in squalor. But despite their situation, they will tell anyone who will listen that they are grateful to be free from the grasp of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and that they are depending on the United States to keep them safe and alive. On Wednesday, Trump put their lives at grave risk with a single tweet.

Just how is it sustainable and reasonable for the US to provision and guarantee the security of the Syrian refugee camp on an open-ended basis?

If it’s such an urgent crisis that needs outside military forces...where are the British? The French? The Germans? The Spanish? The Italians? The Dutch?...and on an on.

"Its amazing how quickly the American Left, and particularly their corrupt media, became supporters of the FBI/CIA and surveillance state, and support endless wars around the world."

TDS.

Trump Derangement Syndrome on full display.

They hate the guy (& his supporters) so much, their willing to turn their own policy positions on their heads just to go against him.

Hey look at the Warmongers at the Washington Post!

The DC Establishment and Globalists are just p*ssed that President Trump has cut off their pig trough also known as Syria.

That is right Freepers many in the D.C. Establishment War Machine were making A LOT OF MONEY.... A LOT off the blood of young Americans dying in the middle East. Only a devil would be upset by ending this nonsensical war.

They do not like to see their money train shut down. It pisses them off and it’s why they are b*thing, moaning and whining about it.

Outstanding move President Trump!!! Thank you Sir for keeping your work on Syria! We the People support you 100%. Please ignore the Swamps wailing, and keep up the outstanding work!

That is right during the Cold War days they hated all of these institutions.

Now once they are controlled and corrupted by Leftist political appointees. All of a sudden they love them.

Maghaweir Al Thowra, aka FSA, aka, New Syrian Army is being trained at Al Tanf, and supplied weapons by the US.

The internally displaced persons in Rukban are basically being held hostage by MaT, and the US. We will starve you. Come to the dark side and enjoy food, Toyota trucks, and shelter.

Humanitarian aid to Rukban is distributed by Maghaweir Al Thowra. In other words, the aid reaches the MaT rebels, not the refugees.

Syria and Russia just started construction of a base near Al Tanf, and told the US, their intention is to clear the US and their terrorist training camp.

People who have had the money to buy their way out of Rukban tell a much different story than the US Propaganda version. Like the Al Qaeda affiliated White Helmets, Maghaweir Al Thowra has a very polished Public Relations spin.

If Obama never tried to overthrow Assad, this problem would not exist. Obama had no real plan to overthrow Assad, no plan or guarantees for what a new Syria would look like. This was Obama's war, with a lot of help from the late Sen. McCain.

Defeating ISIS, leaving Assad intact and crippled, is the best the U.S. could get out of this. Trump got it and is getting out.

I was all for striking back after 9-11. But thanks to Bush, that venture expanded way too far. I think we have learned since then that the Middle East is one giant snake pit. (The only democracy in that area is Israel, but the Left hates it.) Our soldiers can die for the Muslims but they can’t wear crucifixes around their necks because it would offend them. We’re in Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan and were at one time saving Kuwait. I think we’ve more than done our part. When does it end? I believe it was a Freeper who said that he served in Afghanistan and that in his view, it would take 100 years before we would make a difference there. If we can start bringing our men back home, I think we would be better off. They are getting maimed, killed, PTSD, at one point soldiers were getting Gulf War Syndrome, and their family lives are being disrupted. Unless I hear some realistic reasons for why we should stay, I support Trump in slowly withdrawing our military from the madness.

At this point, we might as well pull out of Iraq, and the sliver of Syria we are in, as we have not been able to find the international aid workers and refugees taken hostage by ISIS back on 12-13 October from northwest of Hajin near the Euphrates River, and near the Conoco/Philips site. The 8,000 or so ISIS fighters which were in the intense gun battles, dispersed like they normally do, only they took several hundred hostages. All we have found so far are the dismembered bodies of about 29 aid workers.

Some of the hostages may have been moved South, to points south of the Euphrates River, toward the infamous wadee which runs from from Central Iraq in the Anbar Province, to Jordan in the west. That wadee is pretty tough. Lot of places to hide out in the karst topography. Lots of caves, tunnels, and canyons, along with the towns and villages. Those guys tend to strategically blend in, and have also been likely exiting Iraq into Jordan as “refugees”, as to eventually make their way into Europe and Latin America.

Additionally, the Russians are advancing east, and the Turks are probably getting ready to take much of northern Iraq, all the way to Balad, and east of the Euphrates River. The Turks are claiming the land and energy fields as theirs.

At this point, the only possible way the Kurds survive what is being set up, is if they ally themselves with Russia, and Putin pressures his new best friend Edogan, to allow the Kurds to live. It appears to already be a discussion between Russia, Turkey, and Iran.

As well, Russia is really reaching out now to Saudi Arabia, after all the recent friction and isolation from western governments.

It’s totally amazing. The left have zero principles. It’s all about power for them. They will out anonymous people, punish whistle blowers... they will cry “no blood for oil” and then support a Democrat when he does a bloody “surge” in Iraq and Afghanistan and regime change in half a dozen countries. When Obama separated families and threw smoke bombs at illegals trying to sneak into the country they are silent, when Trump ends the family separation policy they don’t say “thank you” they still blame him for the policies of his predecessors. The left now loves the FBI and the CIA, they love war, they love the media. They used to hate attempts to ban speech now they want speech codes and songs banned from the radio. They are totally bonkers. Everything is about power, nothing about principle. If they can use it to attack Trump they will because that’s all they care about. Policy is for politicking, not governing.
