I am beginning to think that Mattis, the swamp general, was going to be fired and he preempted the president by turning in his resignation.
Good move, Mattis is a Globalist, and a perpetual war lobbyist.
When he was elected, I really believed that Trump has the magic touch when it came to putting the right people in the right places. That does not seem to be the case. But even with these personnel issues and phony investigation, Trump is the best president I have ever seen, it’s not even close.
At least Trump is proving that he can see thru people enough to get rid of them before they do him in.
Its simple. Trump went to bat for the Military. And the Military is balking when it come to defending our border. Like its too small a job for them. So Mattis says that he can’t do Syria and protect our border. So Trump says fine. I choose the border. Stop the troops in Syria. Send them home. Now we have the money to defend our border. And Mattis quits. Thats fine. You need a general that defends our country and takes orders from the president. And we need a president that listens to the people.

Somehow I knew before reading the comments here that Gen. Mattis would feel the excoriation of many freepers. Sadly I was not disappointed.

In brief, he quit because he was not allowed to set national foreign policy. He was too immature to realize that he could have yet provided important material support to the soldiers carrying out the orders of the President.
He put his personal ego above the men’s well-being.
