GOP senators emerged from the closed-door meeting in visible disbelief that President Trump is refusing to sign a seven-week stopgap measure to fund the government that cleared the chamber by a voice vote less than 24 hours ago.
Senate GOP leadership appeared confident on Wednesday that Trump would sign the stopgap, which will fund approximately 25 percent of the government, as long as they kept poison pill policy riders out of it.
But Trump, under fire from conservative pundits and lawmakers, reversed course Thursday.
You're ruining my life, GOP Sen. Susan Collins (Maine) joked to The Hill when told about the decision. No-I dont think the votes are [there], ugh, we cant have a government shutdown, period, she said. Its never good. How many times do we have to learn that?

“’You’re ruining my life,’ GOP Sen. Susan Collins (Maine)”
_______________
How about considering the lives of the families of those U.S. citizens who were killed by illegal aliens? Or of those of us who have to pay taxes to support the 5 children of illegal alien parents?
“GOP senators emerged from the closed-door meeting in visible disbelief”
Is there any doubt these people live in a different world?
They are completely detached from the base 90% of whom want the wall, period. They do a voice vote to pass to a POS CR with 0 dollars for the border and they are in disbelief. Unfreeking believable.
Susan Collins, Bob Corker, Orrin Hatch - the usual suspects.
__________
Will they be losing bribes from George Soros or something?
And crapping in their Depends because they will have to go on record
with a vote. And that vote will not be helpful to them in their reelection.
Five billion in a budget of 37 trillion is .0135 percent — really? A rounding error in the budget.
It’s been widely reported that 86 percent of government spending is on autopilot — no legislation needed for the money to flow.
Make the senators go on record, not a voice vote — then let’s mount a phone campaign to call them out, one by one! If they have a down hall meeting, flood it with protests in person, let them know how we feel about border security!
I think the 9th circus is standing by during the Christmas break to nullify and rule unconstitutional any lawful order from the president
Most of the federal government is worthless at its role and redundant in its job. The Congress is scared because government is their cash cow and they are prostitutes to special interests.
Those are great quotes, thank you. Liberalism must have had a different definition back then.
3.7 trillion
Five billion in a budget of 3.7 trillion is .135 percent
The majority of congress are CHICKEN! They don’t vote or think with their own mind.. This country has been run by cowards doing what the money people tell them... and it’s not been for the people of the U S.. it’s been for personal gain and power!
“.....Its been widely reported that 86 percent of government spending is on autopilot no legislation needed for the money to flow. ,,,,,,”
All entitlements and other “must pay” like interest on the debt. This is a huge problem and growing.
Think of it our entire political process is coming down to arguing over what to do with that remaining & shrinking 14%!
I am sure hard working tax paying laborers feel bad for them.
Especially, the ones who will be working Christmas eve day.
This is why I voted for him.
Trump live on TV just now: “Illegal immigration costs our country at least 275 billion dollars a year”
So what's different from all the years past?
This along with the announcement that the US is wrapping up ground ops in Syria makes a great Christmas present the American people. Isis has been pretty well broken for the time being and the US has plenty of means of delivering air and missile bombardment if that becomes necessary.
