How did you get the url for the free version?

Using outline.com for Wall Street Journal articles:

Browse to the WSJ page that contains just the start of the article, with the "Subscribe" and "Sign in" buttons.

Manually edit the URL shown for that page by your browser, by placing this:

http://outline.com/

directly to the left of the existing URL. Don't add a space. Don't forget the trailing forward slash:

http://outline.com/https://www.wsj.com/articles/...

Hit Enter. Outline.com will retrieve the page and will generate its own new short URL.

outline.com is the best. I have it in my bookmark toolbar - just cut an paste the URL you want
