That is why so many Republicans are not for amnesty, because making illegals legal means COC members have to pay a real wage, but the COC’s order to the GOPe is to do nothing and don’t do any legislation that would seriously stop illegal entries, but not give them total amnesty.

The CoC supports a blanket amnesty for all 12 to 22 million illegal aliens in this country and continued high legal immigration levels. A surplus of cheap labor, legal and illegal, drives down wages. If there was really a surplus of labor, wages would be going up, not stagnating or decreasing in inflation adjusted dollars since 1969. We continue to have low labor participation rates despite the reduction in unemployment rates and increased job creation. We have around 95 million working age Americans out of the workforce. BLS data:

Labor Participation rates 1980 thru 2018

I define amnesty as allowing the illegal aliens to stay and work here, the object of their crime. A path to citizenship is just the cherry on top.

If we don't curb legal immigration significantly, the result will be the same, i.e., the Dems will be the permanent majority party. There is too much focus on illegal immigration. The far bigger problem is legal immigration.

There have always been some smart Republicans who realize that illegal aliens, if given citizenship, will vote democrat, and that will be the end of their party. There are even some COC members, but only a small fraction of them, who realize that giving the democrats control of the government would mean massive tax and regulation increases, which will not only hurt the bottom line like amnesty, but perhaps ruin them completely.

Even most of the "smart Republicans" fail to understand that bringing in 1.1 million legal permanent immigrants a year (35 million since 1990) will be the end of their party, at least as currently constituted. We have just had three of the four highest decades of legal immigration in our history. And by 2023 the percentage of foreign born will be the highest in our history. Immigrants and their US born children drive 80% of our population growth.

Fine, I won't split hairs with you.

However, for a lot of small COC members, like roofers, lawn care, pool cleaners, domestic maid services, etc., having them remain illegal means you have leverage over them. When they get too uppity for the business, they can threaten to call CBP on them. Works all the time.

These are the "Americans" who don't want amnesty, nor enforcement.

Way too many Republicans are in office because they’re actually champions of the various local and state chamber of commerces. When their COC tells them jump they only ask “How high?”

In Texas we lost TWO GOPes, One in Houston, my very own Johnny "Cannot spend enough of the Taxpayers Money" Culberson, and a RINO is the Dallas area. RodGuy lost his RINO Cuban, and the Clinton's Dona Irish Shellela was defeated.

So all in all I looking forward to the Texas primaries in Eighteen Month.

In the meantime Trump needs to hold more Public meetings with the Commies running the U.S. House as this is great entertainment value

However, for a lot of small COC members, like roofers, lawn care, pool cleaners, domestic maid services, etc., having them remain illegal means you have leverage over them. When they get too uppity for the business, they can threaten to call CBP on them. Works all the time.

First, it is illegal to knowingly hire illegal aliens to work. Employers who do are subject to penalties under the law. Calling ICE can be a double edged sword for the employer.

Do you know who also uses this argument to support amnesty rather than object to it? The Dems, unions, and other open border types who lament the exploitation of the "undocumented." They want the "undocumented" legalized so they can be treated fairly as well as to be taxed on their earnings. Businesses, large and small, want a surplus of labor, legal or illegal. It depresses wages and increases the profit margin. Many businesses object to making mandatory the current voluntary e-verify system. They are joined by libertarians who believe in the free flow of labor, even across national boundaries. The UN is making migration a "right."

Business is joined by the Dems, religious, labor, and special interest groups in keeping the inexhaustible flow of cheap labor unimpeded. They also want to bring in skilled and educated labor to do jobs Americans can't do in addition to unskilled labor to do jobs Americans won't do. This is wiping out the middle class. It is why Trump's immigration and trade policies represent such an existential threat to the current system that involves trillions of dollars.

These are the "Americans" who don't want amnesty, nor enforcement.

There are millions of Americans like me who don't want amnesty, which would destroy this country with the stroke of a pen. It was estimated that just providing amnesty to 12 million illegal aliens would cost $6.3 trillion and result in 66 million more legal immigrants joining them as part of chain migration, i.e., family reunification. And it would just hasten the process of making the Dems the permanent majority party. Even if all illegal immigration were stopped today, keeping the status quo on legal immigration will make the Dems the permanent majority party within a decade.

I find what you said offensiveness, a form of hate speech. There is no job Americans can't do. It's all about wage suppression.

Give me a break. Don’t you understand sarcasm? First, the open borders types told us that we needed all these immigrants,I legal and illegal, to do jobs Americans didn’t want to do. Now they are telling us they need immigrants to do jobs Americans can’t do. Never mind we produce more STEM workers every year than there are STEM jobs. Dems and RINOs want to increase the number of H1B visas. Cruz wanted to triple the number.

Of course it is about cheaper labor both skilled and unskilled, legal and illegal.

There is something of a truth to both your views.

Bringing in global talent is somewhat about wage suppression, which does help to make our tech companies as competitive as they are globally.

Higher wages would improve the pool of available American tech professionals.

But not everyone who has some sort of STEM degree is trained or talented for many of these positions. Sure, there are a lot of caretaker tech roles on the enterprise side, but for tech vendors, you need genuinely talented people for many of their positions in order for them to build competitive products.

The imported tech workers are, like the Americans, a combination of great, good, and marginal in training and, most critically, talent. The great ones tend to be very, very good and often they go on to co-found the next generation of successful companies, too.

Nope. I’d kick the 30 million illegals in the country now all home. All of them.

Just stating some simple truths about the tech labor market. That doesn’t mean we should keep importing even the best out there. I’d be okay with a decade or so moratorium on all immigration—and for a sense of national fairness, limiting the top talent during that time may be necessary as well.

But to pretend that the top tech talent from India is no better for a lot of critical developer positions than the bottom 20% of our STEM-degreed locals is just wrong. IQ i real and it matters.

Just stating some simple truths about the tech labor market.

A lot of IT jobs and high IQ Americans are turned off by the sell globalists. They don't want to go into IT because of what the greedy globalist sell outs have done to the IT industry. But you wouldn't know that would you.
