With Flake gone in January they are adding a seat to give the Republicans a 12-10 voting edge. That's worth a LOT when you have Sasse itching to step into Flake's dancing slippers. No doubt done at the urging of Lindsey Graham who is taking over the position for Grassley and wants a better voting margin than the Judiciary Committee has at the moment.
