Omg, two very young children. I didnt read the story but must be serious depression in the bipolar level. How horrible that no one could somehow stop her.
I remain disappointed in our allowing freedom for the mentally ill. I revere freedom. But if you cant mentally handle it, you are at grave risk to yourselves and others. Im sure she loved those children more than herself and she wasnt able to put them first. At such a deterioration of mental ability, we need to step in and institutionalize against someones will. We need some simple guidelines that should save MOST, and get mentally ill people the help they need. Better she wold have spent the next 6 months in a mental rehab facility and eventually gotten back to her family.
It is a passion of mine. We do them no justice, leaving the mentally ill in freedom on the streets or without strong assistance.
Im with you. Conservatorships, humanely implemented, with safeguards.
