WASHINGTON - Nancy Pelosi said Democrats will begin to seek President Donald Trumps tax returns - a move likely to prompt outrage from the White House - when they take control of the U.S. House of Representatives in January.
The House Ways and Means Committee will take the first steps, said Pelosi, who has the backing of her members to become the next speaker of the House in January.
There is popular demand for the Congress to request the presidents tax returns, she said, speaking to reporters. Im sure the White House will resist, so the question is where do we go from there.

Anyone asking to see anyone else’s tax returns should have to show their own first. Now THAT could get exciting.
What Law did Trump break that you need his tax returns ,Nancy’s and her Dem minions tax returns would be more interesting
All his tax returns will show is that he has very good accountants and tax lawyers, he has a complex business empire with complex tax reporting and that he overpaid his taxes.
They will show that almost everything Trump does is a tax deductible business expense because Donald Trump is virtually never off the clock, a fact we have all become aware of watching the Presidents amazing 24/7 dedication to his job.
They will also show that Trump lost tons of money when Congress abruptly ended the complex, counter productive tax shelter real estate laws they had set up as payoffs to donors
The biggest tell on Trump will be what is not on his taxes, which are deductions for charitable donations.
Its been said Trump donates plenty to good causes, he just treats them as charity and not as a tax deductible expense, which is refreshing in a world where Hillary Clinton took a $50 per pair tax deduction on Bill Clintons worn out underwear back before he was famous
Why in the world does the House need Trump’s Tax Returns? Don’t they have enough information to study to figure out laws to pass? This is clearly just a big game of political “gotcha!”
Thats how government works now? I wasn’t aware that’s what their duty was.
I assume they go to a court, and if there is any real justice, the court laughs them off. There cannot possibly be a congressional oversight issue in seeing tax returns of any private citizen.
It would be interesting if they requested the tax returns from last year.
“I’ll show you mine if you show me yours”
That oughta trigger them!
Apparently, she thinks the Obama IRS didn’t do their jobs, because they were part of some Trump collusion strategy.
they will fail.
there is no Constitutional right for the legislative branch to have the tax returns of the head of the executive branch.
none.
On what grounds and under what authority?
Nan comes to a fight with a knife, Trump brings a gun.
Thomas Jefferson Well said
I think the SCOTUS wouldn’t touch this with a ten foot pole.
The democrats each day move us closer towards this whole divide going hot.
If it does, no quarter will be given.
5.56mm
Trump lives in Nancy’s head tax free
Remember :
When they have power the Dems always overplay their hand.
They are incapable of self restraint.
not soon enough
I think it depends on how cut and dried it is. Under what circumstances do they have a right to demand a private citizen’s tax returns?
Yet Obongos college records continue to be impossible to find and thats ok of course.
There's a short list of people/agencies that are allowed to see the confidential IRS PII that the IRS has.
Release his tax returns to the general public, and it means that the IRS promise of confidentiality has been destroyed, and we will no longer have to suffer under the thumb of Treasury Department tyranny.
You will be able to deal with them as armed agents of Despotism.
The Commerce Department has a similar list of people/agencies that are allowed to see the confidential Census PII that the Census Bureau has.
The list has ZERO people/agencies outside the Commerce Department.
This is so people will cooperate with the Census. Otherwise, you could just flip them off.
