Prague is crazy with tourists, the Charles Bridge is usually packed. If I had to move to a city in Central Europe, I'd lean towards Krakow, or Wrocław.

Good choices, but I'd throw Toruń into that mix. My wife's home town and a beautiful walled medieval city, that's not overwhelmingly large, but has a great nightlife and bars. The nights are warm enough in summer to sit out into the early hours, drinking, talking and watching the crowds pass.

It's also the birthplace of Copernicus and has an interesting museum. A lot of Copernicus' writings were taken to Uppsala University in Sweden, following the 18th Century invasion by that country. The Swedes refuse to return them. Their excuse? "Poland keeps getting invaded". Chutzpah.

Toruń
