His reasoning is right on, but to change the wording after all these years, it will be a tough sell.
agreed- as a practicing Catholic this is the first time i haven’t vehemently disagreed or opposed this guy...that said I will still be saying the Our Father for our President every night the way i’ve recited the prayer the past 50+ years...
This is why expository preaching is ideal. A pastor needs to teach what the text means and use the original Greek, Aramaic, and Hebrew. You can add personal touches and outside sources but it is the pastor’s job to educate and guide his flock to the one correct teaching.
I thought so too until I considered the following “but deliver us from evil.” If He is not doing the leading, then who is doing the delivering? I believe the change is incorrect. Not that we ever expect Him to lead us into temptation.
