I don’t recall visiting either. It was 12 years ago. I was on company leave from Iraq and built in a 4 day layover in Paris. The company was pretty good in supporting it. I did another one in Amsterdam the following year. I’d just check into a hotel and travel the city free-association like until it was time to go to the airport. No plans, no schedule, no obligations. Paris was excellent for that. I remember spending a morning at the Basilique du Sacre-Coeur de Montmartre (I had to look it up). Afterwards I laid on the grass and just stared at the sky. It was a cool, cloudy September day. I had a a great R&R there. It was the perfect antidote for the hot, dry and barbaric savagery of Baghdad.

Yes, great view of the city from the steps of Sacre-Coeur de Montmartre. While I appreciate much in Paris, I prefer the smaller cities - particularly to the west in the Loire Valley and Brittany. The problem is, virtually all international flights to France go to Paris, so you still have to run the gauntlet.
