I was in Los Angeles the past few days and flew into Atlanta yesterday afternoon.
Usually when I travel I drive from my home in Eastern Alabama to Atlanta (about 100 miles) to fly. This trip I decided to leave/return out of Montgomery. I’m sure glad I did!
Left sunny, warm LA to find 36 degrees and pelting (and in some spots freezing) rain and strong winds. I’m glad I didn’t have drive home in that.
Montgomery was only a bit warmer at 40 degrees, but just rain. And the drive was shorter!
Glad you avoided that 100 mile drive in tricky conditions! I noticed on Friday that the Dept of Transportation had already treated the interstate roads through/around town. Yesterday, one of the main roads in town had also been treated. They said they were going to get “ahead” of the storm and this is the most ahead I’ve ever seen them put down chemicals.
Just saw on the Weather Channel that my relative. who had 4” at 8 a.m., is in an area that’s got snow coming down at the rate of 2” an hour. It looks like the accumulation forecast for my home area is going ‘up’ .... sigh. The rain/snow line will move closer this afternoon so if we get rain/sleet, it might knock down the totals of what we’re getting. The generator that runs the main house wouldn’t start Friday, but we did get it started yesterday so if the power goes out, we should be good.
