In view of who supports it, there is very good reason to stop 95% of immigration.

Personally I’d say shut it all down for 5-10 years. It is not necessary and it harms the United States.

Why must these people come to the US? They could telecommute. These companies simply do NOT want to hire Americans. Their is a much darker agenda behind this.

This may or may not be a good thing for the economy, but this is the same route that Germany took some decades ago to bring in young male Muslim Turks to alleviate a shortage of workers due to declining birth rates and the losses of a generation of German men due to WWII.

The idea was that these workers would surely want to go back home after a time of good wages in the German economy, doing the jobs that the Germans couldn’t do or wouldn’t do.

However, the guest workers tended to congregate in cultural enclaves of Muslims and surprise, surprise, decided to stay, opening the way for the deluge of Muslims immigrants who have begun to take over Europe.

We will see the same kind of demographic shift in our population which will have great cultural change in its wake. Right now, approximately 16% of native born Salvadorans are in our country and represent the third largest Hispanic minority in the country. Perhaps this is a good thing, but the immigration needs of billionaires should be examined with an eye to the ultimate benefit to our country as a whole and the transformation of the American cultural heritage.

Why, when they can recruit whom they
need from the millions that are already
here? Didn’t these countries send us
those that are looking for nothing more
than a better life? Sorry, I forgot
hiring illegals is against the law.

Looks like trump is neutered by swamp.
On day one he should have signed EO repealing DACA and
closing down h1-b - job killing program.

We could also kick a half million people off welfare and accomplish the same thing. Our elite place no value on Americans whatsoever.

Tax Dodgers.. American kids last corporate cronyism. Tax business according to the percent of visa workers they have to make up for the raxes they are dodging and the welfare programs their workers are using.

I wish there was a study comparing the business first wealthy types support for below market cheap labor, with the business first wealthy types who supported free labor slavery before the US Civil War.

The Republican party was created in rejection of these wealthy business first types.

You can’t get much more in-your-face than this. They’re telling you that you don’t matter at all and there’s nothing you can do about it.

Two things. They say they are bringing people who will do jobs Americans won’t do. But there aren’t any jobs Americans won’t do. There are jobs middle-class kids won’t do. But there is no honest job that someone won’t willingly do given a bit of respect and a paycheck. Americans need those jobs. Its their leg up into productive life.

Second; they are not only bringing in unskilled and semi-skilled labor. They are bringing in engineers and programmers thousands per year, depressing wages for those who are still employed and pushing others out of work entirely. Companies used to actively train people when they couldn’t find the people they needed; its too easy now to simply bring people in from abroad.

Visas for tech workers are given out 80,000 per year, good for 6 years. So at any time there are 480,000 foreign engineers and programmers here on H1B. At the end of it they usually covert to permanent residency, so it is a constant flow of 80,000 techs per year coming into the country. Add to that a million legal immigrants, and another million illegal immigrants, and can anyone seriously believe that American workers are unaffected by all of this?

I was trained by a company, and built a very good career from that start. That kind of training program simply doesn’t exist anymore, there is no need for it when they can simply recruit from overseas.

The joke is that the people recruited in many or most cases have to be trained once they are in their cubicle.
