I recall a lot of suspicion about the pick on the conservative side, assenting to it almost entirely out of trust for Trump. There was no grassroots call for Sessions to be the pick, that’s absolutely certain.
I still prefer Sessions to this guy. Whatever Sessions' shortcomings, he was the strongest opponent of illegal immigration that we've had in the AG's office in decades. Barr, as a Bush administration retread, won't lift a finger on the issue, and may very well push for amnesty and a liberal immigration policy.
