Running for president is hard.
Deciding not to run? That can be even harder.
Over the last year, two-term former Massachusetts governor Deval Patrick has explored the possibility of running for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020, urged on by a small army of Patrick devotees in the Commonwealth. Inspiring and experienced, Patrick would have been a formidable candidate. He compiled real accomplishments as governor, putting his state at the forefront of life sciences globally and managing the fallout of the 2008 recession. Since leaving office, he has worked for Bain Capital investing in firms with social benefits.
But on Thursday, Patrick formally announced on his Facebook page that he wont pursue the White House, citing the cruelty of our elections process.
The other Massachusetts political figures reportedly considering presidential runs should think carefully before jumping in, too.
On the Democratic side, US Senator Elizabeth Warren, US Representatives Joseph P. Kennedy III and Seth Moulton, and former US senator and secretary of state John Kerry have all been mentioned as possible candidates.
On the Republican side, Governor Charlie Baker swears to anyone wholl listen that he has no interest in higher office but anti-Trump Republicans are openly looking for someone to challenge the president in the 2020 GOP primaries.

Listen up, Boston Globe.
Well, we have had a couple of spawns of satan, it only seems right we'd have the deval himself.
A failed run at any office does allow for “stealing” money from the campaign. So, a losing effort could very well be very profitable.
Of gee whiz, am I too cynical hmmm?
Howie Carr’s fault....
How about she’s a Marxist liar, ya think? Could be a negative, ya think?
I predict the fresh faces stay out in 2020 and go for 2024.
The Democrats will have to run Hillary, Bernie or the Idiot Biden.
Funny bain capital is a resume enhancer for Democrat Deval but the kiss of death for mitt Romney
Deval could never had made it past Iowa - he’s 5’6” in heels and a whiner, to boot. He rose to fame by suing large corporations because they weren’t inclusive enough..he learned the ropes from Pork Chops Jesse Jackson.
Warren, on the other hand - until she shot that arrow into her foot with the DNA tests- had many women around the country thinking she was cool for an ol lady...
she’s a harpy.
Here, uber-liberal Deval (then-Mass Gov) sap-happily applauds his new police chief---
wearing her spiffy Commandant Herman Goehring uniform (not photoshopped).
Anybody know how to say verisimilitude in German?
She even has Goering’s sleekness!

When does she plan on bombing England?
Interesting. Until recently, Patrick was Obama’s guy. Maybe Obama really IS backing Beto now?
“Governor Charlie Baker swears to anyone wholl listen that he has no interest in higher office”
He’s too busy leading the Republican wing of the Massachusetts Democratic Party. The Weasels love him.
Mitt should have strongly defined and defended Bain.
He worked for clients who wanted a certain kind of job done.
Mitt allowed the argument to be shaped and guided by Dem idiots. Sometimes, one has to fight back in whatever fashion suits you. But don’t just take the bullwhips of rhetoric by ‘being nice’.
He allowed for all manner of ugly talk about his wife Ann to go unanswered, unchallenged. #1. Son, Tagg answered back, but that was not enough. Niceness alone does not work in today’s world.
If you’re too worried about deportment w/o showing some fire, you get bulldozed and pushed off message.
[Deval Patrick]
Well, Balack Grubenfuhrerhussein Obama already done stole all his good lines!
(watch the whole thing - old - well worth it - 4-1/2 minutes)

Yep I noticed that too. I thought Bain capital, and venture capital firms in general, were evil to the liberals..
But apparently if a fellow liberal is involved, then that changes everything.
