I think the “fake” part in all this is the government’s claim of a possible coup attempt. That’s just an excuse to call in the army. And it sure would be great if the army decides to march with the people.
If the French army mutinies and stands with the people, all bets are off. Or then it’s civil war between the army and the goons of the special riot squads.
As for the disarmed citizenry, well...when the Allies marched into Paris in 1944, all kinds of small arms appeared in private hands even after four years of Nazi occupation. Who knows what could turn up now?
Might even be some settling of accounts between Frenchmen and Muslim invaders.
