Interesting. And now I don't need to go to prison to learn that!

Really though - a misdemeanor to break in someone’s home!? So the headlines, if he had not been armed would have been “The woman shot the man, even though he was only just committing a misdemeanor.”

I believe B & E of an occupied dwelling is a felony with or without a weapon. In any case he committed a felony by escaping prison so even a simple entry without permission is in effect happening during the commission of a felony and generally frowned upon by law enforcement and sensible municipalities. Best outcome happened. A rare and happy ending!
