This year California legalized “ballot harvesting,” which empowers a third party to collect ballots and deliver them to election officials.

“It shouldn’t ‘defy logic’ that elections officials are meticulous in counting every eligible ballot,” California secretary of state Alex Padilla told reporters. “California works to ensure every ballot is counted properly and every ballot is accounted for. In the most populous state in the nation — and the state with the largest number of registered voters — this takes time.”

It defies logic that election officials should accept votes provided by a third party.

How do your verify that votes submitted by a third party are valid and legal.

How could the election official know that the votes collected by a third party were cast by real voters?

The ballot comes in a sealed envelope signed by the voter. The signatures are checked against the voter registrations.
