Fact-checkers bust Ocasio-Cortez for false claim about Pentagon spending

Fact-checkers at the Washington Post gave Democratic Socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez “four Pinnochios” for posting a claim on Twitter about out-of-control Pentagon spending.

Ocasio-Cortez, who supports Sen. Bernie Sanders’ proposal for Medicare-for-all, which estimates say would cost $32 trillion over 10 years, claimed in the tweet Sunday that “Pentagon accounting errors” could help pay for part of the coverage.

“$21 TRILLION of Pentagon financial transactions ‘could not be traced, documented, or explained.’ $21T in Pentagon accounting errors. Medicare for All costs ~$32T. That means 66% of Medicare for All could have been funded already by the Pentagon. And that’s before our premiums,” she wrote in the tweet that has been retweeted 25,000 times.

In the posting, Ocasio-Cortez, who defeated Rep. Joe Crowley in June’s Democratic primary, referred to a report in the Nation that tracked Pentagon spending from 1998 to 2015 and found $21 trillion in “unsupported budget adjustments.”

The Washington Post took issue with the estimate.

Same for just about everything else related to the security of the country, like the cost of the B-2 Bomber, and then fold in development costs, which, with 21 planes came out to be about 3 times as much as the production run. By the time the left was done, the media had a FIELD DAY saying that each B-2 cost about $2 Billion, roughly the cost of an Aircraft Carrier back then. By the way, it was Bush Sr. who cut the original order of 132 planes down to 75 planes and then down to 21 planes. Thanks, a-hole.

Anyway, back to Goretex: I’ve never called her an idiot before, because she’s a genius to have gotten to where she is, but she’s getting closer now. After all, the MAIN TALKING POINT with the Left (especially their media wing) is talking about the COST of anything they oppose - that’s why they keep reminding our side that Trump promised to have Mexico pay for The Wall, when virtually NONE of the Trump supporters care who pays for The Wall, as long as it gets built (and, if the border then gets controlled, The Wall will pay for itself many times over, obviously).
