We are at the point that our future as a sovereign nation and the sustainability of our freedoms and self-determinism are at risk because of the state of the rest of the Americas (Central and South). It is way past time that the US engage Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala, etc., and demand to know why they are failing their citizens.
These discussions should be as private as possible, to remove the political grandstanding and push-back, but they should be blunt and point out that the survival of all of the Americas depends upon stopping drug trafficking, human trafficking, and government corruption. We screwed up in Cuba, and a repeat of this could be very destructive. We don't exist in the world alone, and need to ensure that gateway countries to the US are not used to weaken us.
