The Trump administration took a major step Friday toward allowing testing for offshore oil and natural gas under the Atlantic Ocean... The announcement is an early step toward potentially allowing offshore drilling in the Atlantic for the first time in decades.

"Interior proposed earlier this year to allow drilling all along the Atlantic, as well as the Pacific and Gulf coasts. But any company wishing to drill would first do the seismic testing, which uses airgun blasts, before committing to any drilling."
The Trump Administration has opened the largest offshore areas ever for exploration and development. If deposits can be mapped, and leases auctioned off before Democrats re-take the White House, these fields could produce for decades to come.

Canada has pumped Oil from the Atlantic for 30 or 40 years now
Canadian oil drilling is good.
American oil drilling in any way, evil or something.

Fields further South in the Atlantic will probably produce for as long - with a lot better weather.
The royalties and taxes to the Government will make it very hard to let go of, once lawmakers get a taste of that revenue.
Cuba’s been drilling for awhile now, haven’t they?
After drilling three dry holes off Cuba in 2012, the leased drilling rig moved on. There are some companies with exploration leases, but no active drilling is going on now. So far, Cuba's claims of large reserves seem to be fantasy.
I want to say yes and I read about it several times over the past decade or two.
