I cannot think of any reason to put down a well trained service dog that is that young.
The dog will be ‘married up’ with a new partner who needs him.
Seriously. A lot of time and money goes into training these animals. When the person being helped dies ... well, putting a bullet through the dog’s head isn’t the first concern that pops to mind
